UP Lok Sabha Election 2024: There are no restrictions on the number of vehicles in election campaigns, rallies, or public meetings. However, if there are more than 10 vehicles in the convoy, additional vehicles must maintain a distance of 200 meters after the tenth vehicle.Permission from the administration is necessary for all vehicles, and their costs will be added to the candidate’s expenses.
Assistant District Election Officer Jagnarayan Maurya clarified that this exemption won’t apply during nominations. Candidates can only travel with three vehicles simultaneously, and only up to 100 meters before the enrollment site.Nominations for Gorakhpur and Bansgaon Lok Sabha seats will take place in the old collectorate, with the Gorakhpur nominations in the court of ADM Finance and Bansgaon nominations in the court of Chief Revenue Officer.Candidates must leave their vehicles at the main gate of the Collectorate during nominations and proceed to the nomination hall on foot with their proposers.
The expenditure limit for candidates in the elections is set at Rs 95 lakh. All expenses incurred from the day of nomination, including publicity, public meetings, and rallies, will be added to the candidates’ expenses. The rates for materials and vehicle fares have been fixed by the administration, and these rates will be applied to the candidates’ expenses. Additionally, monitoring teams will oversee convoy expenditure.
Fixed vehicle fares are as follows:
- Jeep, DI: Rs 1200 per day including fuel
- Classic Car, AC: Rs 1800 per day including fuel
- Sumo, Bolero, Indica AC: Rs 2000 per day including fuel
- Ambassador, Maruti: Rs 1000 per day including fuel
- Fortuner, Endeavour, Innova AC: Rs 4500 per day including fuel
- Delivery van, pickup, mini truck, tractor: Rs 1500 per day including fuel
- Three-wheeler loading, tempo: Rs 700 per day including fuel
- E Rickshaw: Rs 500 per day including fuel
