New Delhi: In a major operation, the Mumbai Police cracked down on a clandestine drug manufacturing unit in Sangli district, Maharashtra, seizing a staggering 100 kg of mephedrone valued at over Rs 150 crore.
The unit, hidden in Irali village, was discovered following targeted intelligence inputs. The raid led to the confiscation of raw materials used in drug production, shedding light on the intricate network behind the illegal drug trade.
The recent bust adds to the string of successful operations against drug trafficking in the region. Just days prior, a similar raid in Kavathe Mahakal uncovered 150 kg of mephedrone worth Rs 300 crore, resulting in multiple arrests and disrupting the drug supply chain.
Six individuals were arrested in connection with the clandestine Mephedrone (MD) manufacturing facility in Kavathe Mahakal locality in which a main suspect running the nexus has been arrested, hinting at a larger nexus involved in manufacturing and distributing mephedrone.
As investigations continue to unravel the extent of the drug network in Sangli, authorities are vigilant in tracking down all individuals involved in the illicit trade.
